Gentours School Camp, Skerries with speaker Stephanie Bourke.

This is a free event, to reserve a place please use eventbrite link.

Gentours School Camp was a holiday camp for school children which operated in Skerries for more than twenty years, from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. Thousands of young people and their teachers spent time in Skerries during those years, exploring the environs, taking advantage of the coastline and making trips to Dublin and beyond. All trace of the camp has now disappeared. This paper celebrates those twenty odd years of camp and the people who made it happen.

Stephanie Bourke grew up in Dublin and holds a BA degree in History and Politics from UCD. A Fingal resident for the past thirty years, she is a long-time member and currently honorary secretary of the Skerries Historical Society.
