You don't need to have any previous experience in embroidery or stitching to take part in the workshop. All materials and tools will be provided for the duration of the class.

This free workshop takes place as part of the Weaving the Threads of Heritage art exhibition which opens in Ardgillan Gallery on 12th April and runs until 11th May 2025.

Explore the intricate art of hand embroidery inspired by original historical samplers from Balbriggan’s renowned Smyth & Co hosiery factory. At its peak in the Victorian era, the factory, renowned for its craftsmanship, supplied prestigious clients and even held a royal warrant for producing Queen Victoria's stockings.

This is a free event, bookable through Eventbrite. Please see the website provide.

This project is funded by Creative Fingal through the Creative Ireland Programme.
