How can historical or contemporary documents be used directly, without authorial ‘voiceover’, to make vibrant, innovative poetry?
Join Christodoulos Makris for a talk on the making of his most recent book, It Reeks of Radio - one of The Stinging Fly’s Irish Poetry books of 2023 - composed entirely with fragments taken from the RTÉ Radio repositories held in UCD Archives, and other documentary poetry work. Participants will then be led to make their own poetry using public or private documents and other pre-existing material. Suitable for all levels of experience, or no experience at all.
