Rhythms of the Future: A Poetry Workshop with Máighréad Medbh

Rhythm is one of the traditional concerns of poetry. It communicates movement, mode and mood. But traditional metres may not match contemporary experience, and almost certainly do not if we want to imagine the future.
This workshop explores how we might rethink rhythm in order to represent the sounds and movements of Now while imagining those that are to come. While the Future might suggest a distant time, it can also be taken to mean the next step, and is really only a moment away . . . Join us for a short introduction to rhythm, accompanied by group discussion, after which participants will be asked to write their own poems based on prompts. The workshop will finish with sharing of work and feedback.
