With Charles and Marion Heasman (Sustainable Skerries)
Charles and Marion Heasman, members of the Sustainable Skerries group, will lead the walk through some public green spaces where seasonal wildflower meadows grow and bees tend to gather in the spring. Come along to learn about the world of Irish bees, hopefully including some less common species- you may even realise that you have seen them before without knowing.
Meet near the Ballast Pit bus stop on Barnageeragh Road (Stop ID: 6077), next to the pedestrian bridge to the DART station. The walk will be slow-paced and the full route should take about an hour and a half, although there is no obligation to stay for the entire event. Wear suitable shoes for the walk, bring water and make sure to dress properly for the weather. Families with children are welcome, but please leave dogs and buggies at home. The wildflower area is unfortunately not accessible for people with limited mobility, as access requires crossing a steep area with loose ground.
Because this is a fully outdoors event, the walk is subject to weather conditions and may have to be postponed or cancelled if the forecast is poor. We will notify attendees if plans change, so please register online here and keep an eye on your email inboxes in the days leading up to the walk. Registration will help us know how many people to expect, and to keep everyone informed ahead of the event.
